When the plants are grown in magnesium deficient but urea rich soil, the symptoms expressed are
- yellowish leaves
- colourless petiole
- dark green leaves
- shoot apex dies
Answer
(1) yellowish leaves
Solution
∵ Magnesium is a constituent of chlorophyll; without it chlorophyll cannot be formed even when nitrogen (urea) is plentiful.
As per NCERT, deficiency of N, K, Mg, S, Fe, Mn, Zn and Mo causes chlorosis (loss of chlorophyll, yellowing of leaves).
∴ The leaves turn yellowish.
