A cylinder contains hydrogen gas at pressure 249 kPa and temperature 27 . Its density is : (R = 8.3 J mol-1 K-1)

  1. 0.2 kg/m3
  2. 0.1 kg/m3
  3. 0.02 kg/m3
  4. 0.5 kg/m3

Answer

(1) 0.2 kg/m3

Solution

From the ideal gas equation: PV = mMRT

⇒ = mV = PMRT

P = 249 103 Pa, M = 2 10-3 kg mol-1, T = 300 K

⇒ = 249 103 2 10-38.3 300

= 4982490

= 0.2 kg/m3
