Ques. 1JEE Main 2024, 9 April (Evening Shift)

A straight magnetic strip has a magnetic moment of 44 Am2. If the strip is bent in a semicircular shape, its magnetic moment will be Am2. (given = 227)

Answer

28

Solution

Pole strength m stays the same; only the distance between the poles changes from l to the diameter 2r.

[figure]

Straight: M = ml = 44 Am2

Bent: l = r, so 2r = 2l

M' = m 2l = 2M = 2 44 722 = 28 Am2

Answer: 28
