In plants, inulin and pectin are
- Excretory material
- Reserve material
- Insect attracting material
- Wastes
Answer
(2) Reserve material
Solution
As per NCERT, inulin is a polymer of fructose and starch is a store house of energy in plants.
∵ Inulin is stored in roots and tubers (e.g. Dahlia), and pectins (polymers of galacturonic acid) are stored in large amounts in fruits.
⇒ Both are polysaccharides kept in plants as stored food, not excretory products.
∴ Inulin and pectin are reserve material.
