Ques. 1JEE Main 2024, 6 April (Evening Shift)

Two open organ pipes of lengths 60 cm and 90 cm resonate at 6th and 5th harmonics respectively. The difference of frequencies for the given modes is Hz. (Velocity of sound in air = 333 m/s)

Answer

740

Solution

Open pipe: fn = nv2L ( antinodes at both ends, all harmonics present)

f6 = 6 3332 0.6 = 1665 Hz

f5 = 5 3332 0.9 = 925 Hz

= 1665 - 925 = 740 Hz

Answer: 740

Ques. 2JEE Main 2024, 5 April (Evening Shift)

A sonometer wire of resonating length 90 cm has a fundamental frequency of 400 Hz when kept under some tension. The resonating length of the wire with fundamental frequency of 600 Hz under same tension cm.

Ques. 3JEE Main 2024, 1 February (Morning Shift)

A tuning fork resonates with a sonometer wire of length 1 m stretched with a tension of 6 N. When the tension in the wire is changed to 54 N, the same tuning fork produces 12 beats per second with it. The frequency of the tuning fork is Hz.

Ques. 4JEE Main 2024, 31 January (Morning Shift)

The fundamental frequency of a closed organ pipe is equal to the first overtone frequency of an open organ pipe. If length of the open pipe is 60 cm, the length of the closed pipe will be:

  1. 15 cm
  2. 60 cm
  3. 45 cm
  4. 30 cm
Ques. 5JEE Main 2024, 31 January (Evening Shift)

The speed of sound in oxygen at S.T.P. will be approximately: (given, R=8.3 J mol-1 K-1, =1.4)

  1. 341 m/s
  2. 333 m/s
  3. 325 m/s
  4. 315 m/s
Ques. 6JEE Main 2024, 30 January (Morning Shift)

In a closed organ pipe, the frequency of fundamental note is 30 Hz. A certain amount of water is now poured in the organ pipe so that the fundamental frequency is increased to 110 Hz. If the organ pipe has a cross-sectional area of 2 cm2, the amount of water poured in the organ tube is g. (Take speed of sound in air is 330 m/s)

Ques. 7JEE Main 2024, 30 January (Evening Shift)

A point source is emitting sound waves of intensity 16 10-8 W m-2 at the origin. The difference in intensity (magnitude only) at two points located at distances of 2 m and 4 m from the origin respectively will be 10-8 W m-2.

Ques. 8JEE Main 2024, 27 January (Evening Shift)

A closed organ pipe 150 cm long gives 7 beats per second with an open organ pipe of length 350 cm, both vibrating in fundamental mode. The velocity of sound is m/s.
