After karyogamy followed by meiosis, spores are produced exogenously in

  1. Saccharomyces
  2. Neurospora
  3. Alternaria
  4. Agaricus

Answer

(4) Agaricus

Solution

As per NCERT, in basidiomycetes the dikaryon forms the basidium, where karyogamy and meiosis take place, producing four basidiospores.

Basidiospores are produced exogenously on the basidium ⇒ Agaricus (mushroom).

In ascomycetes ( Saccharomyces, Neurospora) the sexual ascospores are produced endogenously in asci, and Alternaria (deuteromycete) has no known sexual stage.
