The Bohr model of atoms

  1. Assumes that the angular momentum of electrons is quantized.
  2. Uses Einstein's photoelectric equation.
  3. Predicts continuous emission spectra for atoms.
  4. Predicts the same emission spectra for all types of atoms.

Answer

(1) Assumes that the angular momentum of electrons is quantized.

Solution

As per NCERT, Bohr's second postulate states that the electron revolves only in those orbits for which its angular momentum is an integral multiple of h2 : L = nh2 .

Angular momentum is quantised; the model predicts line (not continuous) spectra, different for different atoms, and does not use the photoelectric equation.
