  2. elongation of phloem cell
  3. separation of phloem parenchyma
  4. strengthening of phloem fiber

Answer

(1) increase of sugar in phloem cell

Solution

As per NCERT, at the source glucose is converted to sucrose, which is moved into the companion cells and then into the living phloem sieve tube cells by active transport. This is phloem loading.

It increases the concentration of sugar in the phloem cells, producing a hypertonic condition that draws in water and builds up pressure.
