Difference in gram positive and gram negative bacteria is due to
- cell wall
- cell membrane
- ribosome
- cytoplasm
Answer
(1) cell wall
Solution
As per NCERT, based on the differences in the cell envelopes and the manner in which they respond to the staining procedure developed by Gram, bacteria are classified as Gram positive (take up the gram stain) and Gram negative (do not).
Gram positive bacteria have a thick peptidoglycan cell wall, whereas Gram negative bacteria have a thin peptidoglycan layer with an outer membrane.
∴ The difference is due to the cell wall.
