Which of the following is not a product of light reaction of photosynthesis?

  1. Oxygen
  2. NADH
  3. ATP
  4. NADPH

Answer

(2) NADH

Solution

As per NCERT, the light reactions (photochemical phase) produce ATP, NADPH and O2 (from photolysis of water).

⇒ The reduced coenzyme formed is NADPH, not NADH; NADH is formed in respiration (glycolysis, Krebs cycle).

∴ NADH is not a product of the light reaction.
