PCR and Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism are the methods for
- Genetic transformation
- Genetic fingerprinting
- Study of enzymes
- DNA sequencing
Answer
(2) Genetic fingerprinting
Solution
As per NCERT, in DNA fingerprinting the DNA is cut by restriction endonucleases and the fragments are separated and hybridised with VNTR probes; the differences in fragment lengths (polymorphism) give the DNA profile. The sensitivity of the technique is increased by using PCR to amplify small amounts of DNA.
PCR and RFLP are methods used for genetic (DNA) fingerprinting.
