Ques. 1JEE Main 2024, 30 January (Evening Shift)

Three blocks A, B and C are pulled on a horizontal smooth surface by a force of 80 N as shown in figure [figure] The tensions T1 and T2 in the string are respectively :

  1. 40N, 64N
  2. 60N, 80N
  3. 80N, 100N
  4. 88N, 96N

Answer

(1) 40N, 64N

Solution

Whole system: a= FmA+mB+mC= 8010=8 m/s2

T1 alone pulls A: T1=5 8=40 N

T2 pulls A + B: T2=(5+3) 8=64 N

Answer: (1)
