Barrier potential of a p-n junction diode does not depend on

  1. diode design
  2. temperature
  3. forward bias
  4. doping density

Answer

(1) diode design

Solution

As per NCERT, the barrier potential V0 of a p–n junction is set by the dopant concentrations on the two sides and depends on temperature; an applied bias changes the effective barrier (forward bias lowers it to V0 - V).

⇒ Barrier potential depends on doping density, temperature and forward bias.

It does not depend on the design (shape and size) of the diode.
