The chromosomal theory of inheritance was proposed by

  1. Robert Brown
  2. Thomas Morgan
  3. Sutton and Boveri
  4. Gregor Mendel

Answer

(3) Sutton and Boveri

Solution

As per NCERT, Walter Sutton and Theodore Boveri (1902) noted that the behaviour of chromosomes during meiosis was parallel to the behaviour of Mendel's factors (genes) and united chromosomal segregation with Mendelian principles – the chromosomal theory of inheritance.

Thomas Hunt Morgan later verified it experimentally with Drosophila.
