Let a=3 2 and b= 151/6 6. If x,y R are such that 3x+2y= a (18 ) 54 and 2x-y= b ( 1080 ), then 4x+5y is equal to .

Solution

a= 18=181/2 a185/4= 5/41/2= 52

b= (5 63 )-1/6=1080-1/6 b 1080= 1/2-1/6=-3

3x+2y= 52 and y=2x+3 7x+6= 52 x=- 12, y=2

4x+5y=-2+10=8

Answer: 8
