  1. algae
  2. fungi
  3. angiosperms
  4. gymnosperms

Answer

(3) angiosperms

Solution

As per NCERT, double fertilisation is an event unique to flowering plants (angiosperms).

⇒ One male gamete fuses with the egg cell (syngamy) diploid zygote.

⇒ The other male gamete fuses with the two polar nuclei (triple fusion) triploid primary endosperm nucleus.

∵ Two fusions occur in one embryo sac, it is called double fertilisation.

∴ It is exhibited by angiosperms.
