Stool of a person is whitish grey coloured due to malfunction of which of the following organs?
- Pancreas
- Spleen
- Kidney
- Liver
Answer
(4) Liver
Solution
As per NCERT, bile secreted by the liver contains bile pigments (bilirubin and biliverdin).
⇒ Derivatives of bile pigments in the intestine give the faeces their normal yellowish-brown colour.
∵ In liver malfunction (e.g. jaundice, hepatitis) or blockage of the bile duct, bile pigments do not reach the intestine.
∴ The stool becomes whitish grey (clay-coloured) due to malfunction of the liver.
