Which of the following criteria does not pertain to facilitated transport?

  1. Transport saturation
  2. Uphill transport
  3. Requirement of special membrane proteins
  4. High selectivity

Answer

(2) Uphill transport

Solution

As per NCERT (comparison of different transport processes), facilitated transport requires special membrane proteins, is highly selective and shows transport saturation.

Facilitated transport is a form of diffusion, it occurs only along the concentration gradient (downhill) and needs no ATP.

Uphill transport (against the gradient) is a feature of active transport only.
