Two crosses between the same pair of genotypes or phenotypes in which the sources of the gametes are reversed in one cross, is known as:

  1. Reciprocal cross
  2. Reverse cross
  3. Test cross
  4. Dihybrid cross

Answer

(1) Reciprocal cross

Solution

In a reciprocal cross, the same two parents are crossed twice with the sexes exchanged, e.g. tall (♀) × dwarf (♂) and dwarf (♀) × tall (♂).

As per NCERT, Mendel's reciprocal crosses gave the same results, showing that the trait was not affected by the sex of the parent.
