Given below are two statements: one is labelled as Assertion (A) and the other is labelled as Reason (R). In the light of the above statements, choose the correct answer from the options given below:

  1. Both A and R are true but R is NOT the correct explanation of A.
  2. A is true but R is false.
  3. A is false but R is true.
  4. Both A and R are true and R is the correct explanation of A.

Answer

(2) A is true but R is false.

Solution

Assertion: Nephrons are of two types, cortical and juxta medullary, depending on the position of their loop of Henle in the cortex and medulla — true.

Reason: Cortical nephrons have a short loop of Henle that dips only slightly into the medulla, whereas juxta medullary nephrons have a very long loop of Henle running deep into the medulla — so the Reason is false.

Hence, A is true but R is false.
