One of the most frequently used techniques in DNA fingerprinting is :-

  1. SSCP
  2. SCAR
  3. VNTR
  4. AFLP

Answer

(3) VNTR

Solution

As per NCERT, DNA fingerprinting (developed by Alec Jeffreys) uses a satellite DNA as probe that shows a very high degree of polymorphism, called Variable Number of Tandem Repeats (VNTR).

⇒ The number of repeats in a VNTR differs from person to person, so after hybridisation with the VNTR probe each individual gives a different band pattern.

∴ VNTR is the technique most frequently used in DNA fingerprinting.

Answer: (3)
