Which one of the following kinds of animals are triploblastic?

  1. Flatworms
  2. Sponges
  3. Ctenophores
  4. Corals

Answer

(1) Flatworms

Solution

As per NCERT, animals in which the developing embryo has a third germinal layer, mesoderm, in between the ectoderm and endoderm are called triploblastic (Platyhelminthes to Chordata).

∵ Sponges are cellular-level animals, and corals (Cnidaria) and ctenophores are diploblastic,

∴ flatworms are triploblastic.
