In a series LCR circuit, the inductance L is 10 mH, capacitance C is 1 and resistance R is 100 . The frequency at which resonance occurs is :-

  1. 15.9 kHz
  2. 1.59 rad/s
  3. 1.59 kHz
  4. 15.9 rad/s

Answer

(3) 1.59 kHz

Solution

Resonant frequency: f0 = 12 LC

LC = (10 10-3)(1 10-6) = 10-8 s2 LC = 10-4 s

f0 = 12 10-4

= 1.59 103 Hz = 1.59 kHz

(R does not affect the resonant frequency.)

Answer: (3)
