Which is the most infectious disease?

  1. AIDS
  2. Malaria
  3. Hepatitis-B
  4. Cough and cold

Answer

(4) Cough and cold

Solution

As per NCERT, the common cold is caused by rhinoviruses which infect the nose and respiratory passage.

∵ Droplets from the cough or sneeze of an infected person are either inhaled directly or transmitted through contaminated objects such as pens, books, cups, door knobs and computer keyboards.

⇒ It spreads very easily by casual contact, whereas AIDS and hepatitis-B spread only through body fluids (blood, sexual contact) and malaria only through the bite of an infected female Anopheles mosquito.

∴ Cough and cold is the most infectious disease.
