Arrange the following formed elements in the decreasing order of their abundance in blood in humans: Choose the most appropriate answer from the options given below:

  1. A, C, B, D, E
  2. C, A, B, E, D
  3. C, B, A, E, D
  4. D, E, B, A, C

Answer

(2) C, A, B, E, D

Solution

As per NCERT (counts in a healthy adult):

Erythrocytes (C): 5–5.5 million mm-3

Platelets (A): 1.5–3.5 lakh mm-3

Leucocytes: 6000–8000 mm-3, of which neutrophils (B) 60–65%, monocytes (E) 6–8%, eosinophils (D) 2–3%

∴ Decreasing order: Erythrocytes > Platelets > Neutrophils > Monocytes > Eosinophils, i.e. C, A, B, E, D
