A particle of charge 1.6 and mass 16 is present in a strong magnetic field of 6.28 T. The particle is then fired perpendicular to magnetic field. The time required for the particle to return to original location for the first time is s (rounded off to the nearest integer). ( = 3.14)

Answer

0

Solution

A charge fired perpendicular to a uniform magnetic field moves in a circle. It returns to its starting point for the first time after one time period:

T = 2 mqB

Here m = 16 = 16 10-9 kg, q = 1.6 10-6 C, B = 6.28 T:

T = 2 3.14 16 10-91.6 10-6 6.28

T = 10 10-3 = 0.01 s

Rounded off to the nearest integer, T = 0

Answer: 0
