  1. Eating fruits preserved in tin containers
  2. Inhalation of seasonal pollen
  3. Low temperature
  4. Hot and humid environment

Answer

(2) Inhalation of seasonal pollen

Solution

As per NCERT, the exaggerated response of the immune system to certain antigens present in the environment is called allergy; the substances causing it are allergens, e.g., mites in dust, pollens, animal dander.

⇒ Allergy causes release of chemicals like histamine and serotonin from mast cells.

∵ Pollen grains of many plants are produced in particular seasons, their inhalation in those seasons triggers allergic asthma (spasm of bronchi).

∴ Increased asthmatic attacks in certain seasons are related to inhalation of seasonal pollen.
