The formula for exponential population growth is-

  1. dN/dt = rN
  2. dt/dN = rN
  3. rN/dN = dt
  4. dN/rN = dt

Answer

(1) dN/dt = rN

Solution

As per NCERT, when resources in the habitat are unlimited, a population grows in an exponential (geometric) fashion.

⇒ Rate of change of population size: dNdt = (b - d) N

⇒ Putting (b - d) = r (intrinsic rate of natural increase): dNdt = rN

∴ The exponential growth equation is dN/dt = rN.
