Number of moles and number of molecules in 1.4187 L of SO2 at STP respectively are

  1. 0.1266; 3.812 1022
  2. 0.0633; 3.812 1022
  3. 0.1266; 7.6238 1022
  4. 0.0633; 7.6238 1022

Answer

(2) 0.0633; 3.812 1022

Solution

At STP, molar volume of a gas = 22.4 L

∴ Number of moles of SO2, n = 1.4187 L22.4 L mol-1 = 0.0633 mol

Number of molecules = n NA

= 0.0633 6.022 1023

= 3.812 1022

∴ Moles and molecules are 0.0633 and 3.812 1022 respectively.
