A 12 cm wire is given a shape of a right angled triangle ABC having sides 3 cm, 4 cm and 5 cm as shown in the figure. The resistance between two ends (AB, BC, CA) of the respective sides are measured one by one. Their ratio is [figure]

  1. 9 : 16 : 25
  2. 27 : 32 : 35
  3. 21 : 24 : 25
  4. 3 : 4 : 5

Answer

(2) 27 : 32 : 35

Solution

Resistance of the uniform wire ∝ length; take the resistance of 1 cm as .

Between the ends of one side, that side is in parallel with the other two sides in series.

RAB = 3 9 12 = 2712

RBC = 4 8 12 = 3212

RCA = 5 7 12 = 3512

∴ RAB : RBC : RCA = 27 : 32 : 35

Answer: (2)
